As per the recent reports, it has been noted that Uber is losing their employees as the attrition rate has reached 20% (Dotan & Matousek, 2021). Another statistic has revealed that the average period of employment at Uber is only 1.23 years which is significantly lower considering the brand value of the company.
Employee dissatisfaction is the key reason for the higher employee attrition rate in Uber. While looking into the deeper picture, it has been found that unfair compensation for the longer trips is the key issue among the drivers. In addition to this, the compensation strategy for drivers has been designed in such a way that the drivers have to achieve an annual target to get a bonus (Dotan & Matousek, 2021). Due to lack of remuneration, uber employees are significantly unsatisfied, and they are getting out of the company. This change is needed as it endorses unethical practices in the field of human resource management. As well, the issue will impact Uber’s value in the market which will affect stakeholders of the company.
The perception of employees is really important to have healthy organizational behavior. The concept of perception offers every employee to disclose their perception of the company, which includes their needs and demands (Weber, Unterrainer & Höge, 2020). Uber must conduct meeting with drivers and other employees to get to know about their expectations from the company and then re-design a compensation plan and implement it. This approach will help the company to maintain a good retention rate, and the issue will employee dissatisfaction will be solved permanently.
